Ford, Chrysler, GM Sales Up in September

All of Detroit's big three have seen a positive increase in sales in the month of September. GM reported U.S. sales of 207,145 vehicles, a 20 percent increase over September 2010. Chrysler's domestic sales were up 27 percent. Ford Motor Co. posted the smallest increase — 9 percent — versus the same month a year ago.

Ford, GM, Chrysler will add about 33,000 jobs in Michigan

According to a report from the Center for Automotive Research, Detroit's Big Three automakers are about to start hiring extensively.

The center predicts that Ford, General Motors and Chrysler will add about 33,000 jobs in Michigan between now and 2015, out of which, 12,000 will be salaried workers.

Also, as many as 150,000 new workers may be hired by suppliers to meet demand.
